Operating Hours
Small World is open year-round from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday–Friday, excluding NYC Department of Education (NYC DOE) closures and select professional development days.
Toddlers
Small World’s toddler program is fee-based with two classrooms (24 seats) serving children born in 2020, from 8 a.m.–6 p.m., year-round. 50% of the seats are allocated for private tuition families and 50% of the toddler seats are reserved for affordable child care families.
Fees
Small World’s affordable toddler program is fee-based with a sliding scale fee schedule for qualifying families. This includes select FREE seats subsidized by NYC DOE. Universal 2K, 3K, and PreK
NYC DOE-funded Universal 2K classrooms serve children born in 2022.
NYC DOE-funded Universal 3K classrooms (75 slots) serve children born in 2021.
NYC DOE-funded Universal PreK classrooms (36 slots) ready children born in 2020 for kindergarten.
U2K, U3K, and UPK’s school day and school year are 8:30 a.m.–2:50 p.m., September–June.
Affordable Extended Day/Extended Year operates from 2:50 p.m.–6 p.m. and during July and August.
Fees
Small World’s toddler program is fee-based. A sliding scale fee schedule is available for qualifying families.
Fee-based extended day/extended year is also available. Partial subsidy is available for qualifying families. Review our Fee Schedule. TBD

Families must apply for Universal 3K and Universal PreK through NYC MySchools. The portal opens in January for U3K, and UPK.

Select Small World as your provider.
Select Extended Day/Extended Year ONLY if your family qualifies for full subsidy. Speak with Director Staci White to determine if your family is eligible.

After-school Centers
St. Nicks Alliance operates 22 dynamic, fun-filled after-school centers for children ages 5–13 in close partnership with public schools and NYCHA. St. Nicks Alliance’s School Success Model is the backbone of our afterschool, with a focus on literacy, arts, social emotional learning, and health and wellness.

Operating Hours
After-school centers welcome students immediately once school is dismissed and typically end at 5:30 p.m. Check with after-school centers.

Afterschool is FREE to all.

Applications are available during the first days of the school year. Check with your school’s main office or after-school director. You may also download the online DYCD Universal Participant Intake Application for ages 13 & younger; then complete and submit the application to your school’s after-school director in person or by email.

Summer Rising Camp and traditional Summer Camp require different application processes. Each location listed has an identifier to better assist you.
Summer Rising enrollment process changes from year to year. 2023 process and applications will be available in spring 2023.
Traditional Summer Camp applications are disseminated by afterschool Program Directors during the spring. You may also download (Available Spring 2023) complete and submit the application to your afterschool director in person or by email.

Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), Work Learn Grow (WLG) and AmeriCorps offer year-round, work-based learning.
SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SYEP) and WORK LEARN GROW (WLG)
Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) has two models.
Younger Youth (ages 14-15) receive a stipend for six weeks of project-based workforce readiness training.
Older Youth (ages 16-24) conduct six-week SYEP internships, 25 hours/week @ $15/hour. Select Youth are eligible to continue during Work Learn Grow, when they earn wages and college credit from October – May. Contact [email protected] to learn more.

St. Nicks Alliance’s 22 AMERICORPS members provide 1:1 and small group support as well as career planning to youth, ages 14-21, as they strive to complete high school, workforce trainings or their first year of employment. More details are in the AmeriCorps job description.

Fees
AmeriCorps members earn a living allowance and a Segal Education Award for completion of 1700 hours of service over 12 months.

Career GPS Center
St. Nicks Alliance’s Career GPS Center, a service at the Williamsburg Beacon (850 Grand Street), provides transformational services to help teens stay on track to graduate from high school and prepare for college or the workforce. Services include: attendance improvement/drop out prevention, career planning, SAT and NY State High School Regents Exams prep, counseling services, art classes, and much more.
