Career GPS

St. Nicks Alliance Career GPS provides paid internship opportunities and certification training in construction, healthcare, and technology for young adults. Individuals ages 16–25 who are out of school and out of work receive this career development through: Train and Earn, North Brooklyn YouthBuild, or Building Maintenance.

Train and Earn

Via our partnership with NYC Department of Youth and Community Development’s (DYCD) comprehensive job training and employment services are provided, along with support services necessary to find a permanent job, obtain their high school equivalency if applicable, and access postsecondary education and training. 

Trainings, certifications, internships offered

• Construction: OSHA 30, Flagger, Scaffolding, Fireguard F-60, 10-Hour Site Safety and Solar-One Green Construction Certificate

• Health Care: HHA (Home Health Aide), Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults, and Basic Life Support (BLS). This training is accompanied by an additional 5-week paid internship in the healthcare field upon completion of training.

• Technology: CompTIA A+ License and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS – Excel). This training is accompanied by an additional 5-week paid internship in the technology field upon completion of training.

North Brooklyn YouthBuild

Young adults ages 18–24 who are out of school and out of work will earn certifications in: HSE, computer literacy, workplace success, and CPR. They will also receive paid work experience, community service experience, and leadership development.

Choose between two career tracks

• Construction: OSHA 30, Flagger, Scaffolding, Fireguard F-60, 10-Hour Site Safety, and NCCER

• Health Care: PCT (Patient Care Technician), CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant, and EKG/Phlebotomy

Building Maintenance

Young adults ages 18–25 will learn best practices for operating and maintaining a well-run, healthy, and energy-efficient multifamily residential building and will gain a portfolio of industry recognized certificates.

Certifications and skills acquired: G Pro Operations and Maintenance, EPA Lead Awareness RRP (Renovate, Repair, Paint), Mold Inspection & Remediation Services, Customer Service Certification, Certification of Completion from City Tech CUNY, and more.
