St. Nicks Alliance partners with public schools to operate free community school and after-school centers. Through year-round youth development, academic support, enrichment activities, and Transformational Coaching, students receive the high-quality after-school services they need to succeed in school, graduate high school, and go on to college and/or a career.
We partner with School Settlement Association, Community School District 14, NYC Department of Education, NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, NYS Council on the Arts, and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services to ensure children, ages 5–14, have rich, engaging experiences during out-of-school hours. We also partner with the NYC Housing Authority to provide these same services at local community centers.
Afterschool offers:
New curricula focused on theme-based activities created to improve reading comprehension and content knowledge.
Arts education experiences that foster creativity, language development, and reading comprehension.
STEM activities that connect reading with science and math.
Family literacy workshops that encourage families to read with their children.
Mentoring that connects children with peers, teens, and adults.
